Works council meeting at Cinema Arthouse – dialogue on equal terms

KOn November 28, this year’s KIKXXL works meeting took place at Cinema-Arthouse, bringing a breath of fresh air to the tried-and-tested format. Instead of traditional presentations, KIKXXL opted for an interactive workshop approach that focused on dialogue between the workforce and the works council.

The role of the works council at KIKXXL

The works council at KIKXXL is more than just a legal representative. It supports employees with questions about working hours, overtime, and vacation entitlement, provides assistance with legal issues, and attends employee appraisals on request. It also acts as a point of contact for sensitive issues such as racism, bullying, or occupational safety hazards. As an elected representative body, the works council ensures that the voices of the workforce are heard and actively helps to shape working conditions.

Four workshops, four important topics

On this day, participants could choose from four different workshop stations based on their interests:

Benefits: Which additional benefits are important?

Development and training: Where do employees want to go?

AI – opportunities and risks: How is KIKXXL shaping the digital transformation together?

Wages and salaries, bonuses, vacation: Focus on transparency and fairness

What made this format special was that everyone could decide for themselves which topics were personally relevant and had the opportunity to actively contribute suggestions and questions. The discussions were honest, constructive, and on an equal footing.

At the end of each workshop phase, the collected ideas were bundled into specific questions, which will now be passed on directly to management. This is how input really becomes output.

Dialogue requires the right atmosphere

Snacks and drinks created a relaxed atmosphere that facilitated genuine exchange. This new approach shows that co-determination works best through dialogue. The works council acts as a bridge between the workforce and company management.
