Neon party in the Ruhr region – KIKXXL celebrates outside Osnabrück for the first time

A Christmas party between industrial culture and colorful neon lights

New paths, new places, new experiences. This year, KIKXXL came up with something very special for the Christmas party. Instead of celebrating in Osnabrück as usual, this time we headed to the heart of the Ruhr region: the legendary Ewald coal mine in Herten. And the theme couldn’t have been more fitting: a brightly colored neon party that lit up the historic industrial halls!

A special place with history

The Ewald coal mine is much more than just an event location; it is a piece of living industrial history. Founded in 1871, the coal mine was one of the most productive in the entire Ruhr region after the Second World War. In its heyday, up to 4,000 miners worked underground here. The imposing Malakow tower above shaft 1, the modern winding tower of shaft 2, and the impressive machine halls still bear witness to its eventful past.

After it was decommissioned in 2000, the approximately 52-hectare site has been transformed into a modern, forward-looking location that combines industrial culture with contemporary use. Today, it is not only home to businesses, but also hosts numerous events, making the Ewald colliery the perfect backdrop for our extraordinary Christmas party.

Neon meets industrial charm

As our colleagues streamed through the doors of the historic halls, a spectacular sight greeted them: the old industrial architecture was bathed in a dazzling sea of colors by bright neon lights. Pink, green, yellow, and orange—the bright colors danced on the high walls and gave the place an almost magical atmosphere.

And the KIKXXL team had fully embraced the theme! The outfits were simply magnificent: from bright neon shirts and glowing accessories to creatively designed 80s looks, our team members really went all out. It was a veritable explosion of creativity and color that perfectly matched the exuberant mood of the evening.

An atmosphere to lift your spirits

Right from the start, the atmosphere was simply fantastic. Everyone was clearly looking forward to this special evening outside Osnabrück, and this positive energy continued throughout the evening. The team celebrated, danced, and laughed together, and the unique combination of historic industrial flair and modern neon design made for an evening that will be remembered for a long time to come.

It was especially nice to see the whole team come together. After a busy year, it’s important to celebrate together and strengthen team spirit. And we more than succeeded in doing that in the special atmosphere of the Ewald Colliery. The conversations were lively, the dance floor was full, and everywhere you looked, you saw beaming faces, lit up by both the neon lights and pure joy.

A successful experiment

The conclusion of the evening? The decision to celebrate outside of Osnabrück for the first time was absolutely right! The Ewald Colliery not only offered an extraordinary location, but also the opportunity to experience something new together. The mix of industrial culture and neon party atmosphere worked perfectly and gave our team an unforgettable evening.
